COMMENDATIONS: Commends Glenn Brasseaux, on the occasion of his retirement, for
nineteen years of service as mayor of Carencro
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend Glenn Brasseaux, on the occasion of his retirement, for nineteen years of
3 service as mayor of Carencro.
4 WHEREAS, it is most fitting to recognize Glenn Brasseaux for dedicating nineteen
5years as mayor of the city of Carencro and to commend him on the occasion of his
6retirement; and
7 WHEREAS, Mr. Brasseaux answered the call to public service as a sophomore at
8Carencro High School in 1965; he joined the Carencro Volunteer Fire Department where he
9remained as a volunteer for thirty years; he even served as the department's fire chief for six
10years before leaving in 1995; and
11 WHEREAS, Mr. Brasseaux was also a longtime member of the Carencro city
12council; he was first elected to serve as a councilman in 1978, and he served six terms over
13the next twenty-four years; and
14 WHEREAS, after many years of unfaltering and dedicated public service to the city
15of Carencro, Mr. Brasseaux was elected to serve as mayor; he began his tenure on January 1,
162003, and has continued to serve the city in this capacity for the last nineteen years; he is the
17longest-serving mayor in Lafayette Parish and the second-longest serving mayor in
18Acadiana; and
19 WHEREAS, upon retiring, Mr. Brasseaux will have given a total of forty-four years
20of civil service to the city of Carencro; he is a truly inspiring individual who is most

1deserving of the highest recognition for his incredible dedication to his community and the
2state of Louisiana.
3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
4commend Glenn Brasseaux, on the occasion of his retirement, for nineteen years of service
5as mayor of Carencro and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that he enjoy good health and
6prosperity as he ventures into a well-earned life in retirement.
7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
8Glenn Brasseaux.
