LEGISLATION/RESOLUTIONS: Commends the Chennault Aviation and Military
Museum, the Monroe Airport, and the Aviation Hall of Fame, and commends the
museum for its role in memorializing Louisiana's aviation industry

2To commend the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, the Monroe Regional Airport,
3 and the Aviation Hall of Fame and to commend the museum for its role in
4 memorializing Louisiana's aviation history.
5 WHEREAS, Louisiana has an abundant aeronautical history, and this history is the
6basis of economic enhancement, business creation, and the distribution of aviation products
7to national and international markets; and
8 WHEREAS, aviation is a multibillion dollar industry in the United States and at a
9worldwide level, and aviation products and aeronautics training that originate in Monroe are
10still being utilized around the world; and
11 WHEREAS, the aeronautical industry also profoundly impacts continental and global
12travel for millions of people daily and involves companies created in Monroe and techniques
13and training that originated in Selman Field, which is now the Monroe Regional Airport; and
14 WHEREAS, aviation in the state of Louisiana has changed the way Louisianians live,
15travel, and protect themselves; and
16 WHEREAS, the technique and dedication to aviation, the people who excel at the
17art of aviation, such as war heroes, and the general practice of aviation/avionics stimulates
18commerce and economic growth in the state of Louisiana and contributes to the economic
19well-being of Louisiana citizens and farmers that work and perform in these industries; and

1 WHEREAS, efforts to preserve aviation and aviation history of Louisiana are, and
2have been, promoted by the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum by use of public
3events, by dissemination of information, and by use of digital and internet technology to
4extend this information to all people worldwide; and
5 WHEREAS, the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum continues to educate the
6world about the aviation, military, and aeronautical aspects of Louisiana history in support
7of Louisiana's aviation and aviation-related industries and the Louisiana citizens who work
8and perform in these industries; and
9 WHEREAS, preservation of, and education about, Louisiana's aviation history is
10necessary to educate the public about how this history has left a profound mark on the world;
11and
12 WHEREAS, the legislature is proud to honor and recognize the Chennault Aviation
13and Military Museum which continues to serve the citizens of the state of Louisiana.
14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
15commend Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, the Monroe Regional Airport, and the
16Aviation Hall of Fame for their outstanding work and does hereby commend the museum
17for its role in memorializing Louisiana's aviation history.
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
19governor of Louisiana, the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, and the Monroe
20Regional Airport.
