HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 62

COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Delhi Charter School powerlifting team
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend the Delhi Charter School powerlifting team.
3 WHEREAS, the Delhi Charter School powerlifting team took home several awards
4at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2022 Powerlifting State Championships
5at Fant Ewing Coliseum on the University of Louisiana at Monroe campus; and
6 WHEREAS, Delhi Charter competed in Division IV against other 2A high schools
7from around the state; the boys' and girls' powerlifting teams each finished fifth overall in
8their respective competitions; and
9 WHEREAS, among the members of the Delhi Charter boys' powerlifting team, two
10lifters earned a spot on the podium at the state championships; Luke Rhodes placed first in
11the 132-pound weight class, making him the LHSAA Class 2A state champion in his weight
12class, and Trey Quillen placed third in the 165-pound weight class; and
13 WHEREAS, the Delhi Charter girls' powerlifting team also saw two lifters stand on
14the podium at the state championships; Katie Williamson put on an awe-inspiring
15performance, placing first in the 181-pound weight class and breaking the state record for
16deadlift in her weight class with a lift of three hundred forty pounds; Jadan Gwin placed
17third in the 165-pound weight class; and
18 WHEREAS, the members of the Delhi Charter boys' powerlifting team are Kaden
19Sauseda, Preston Ezell, Kaiden Blakley, Luka Rhodes, Roderick Gray, Levi Ezell, Trey
20Quillen, Kameron Gray, and Garrett Williamson; the boys are coached by Josh Wallace; and

1 WHEREAS, the members of the Delhi Charter girls' powerlifting team are Gentry
2Guice, Jadan Gwin, Katie Williamson, Olivia Winstead, and Chloe Ogden; the girls are
3coached by Rebecca McKinney; and
4 WHEREAS, team manager Ezekiel McKinney is also most deserving of recognition
5for assisting both teams throughout their seasons; and
6 WHEREAS, both the boys' and girls' powerlifting teams from Delhi Charter School
7are incredibly talented and worthy of the highest honor for their incredible accomplishments;
8and
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
10commend the Delhi Charter School powerlifting team and does hereby extend sincere hopes
11for the continued success of all members, coaches, and managers of the school's powerlifting
12teams.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
14Delhi Charter School headmaster.
