HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 62

A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend the Delhi Charter School powerlifting team.
WHEREAS, the Delhi Charter School powerlifting team took home several awards
at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2022 Powerlifting State Championships
at Fant Ewing Coliseum on the University of Louisiana at Monroe campus; and
WHEREAS, Delhi Charter competed in Division IV against other 2A high schools
from around the state; the boys' and girls' powerlifting teams each finished fifth overall in
their respective competitions; and
WHEREAS, among the members of the Delhi Charter boys' powerlifting team, two
lifters earned a spot on the podium at the state championships; Luke Rhodes placed first in
the 132-pound weight class, making him the LHSAA Class 2A state champion in his weight
class, and Trey Quillen placed third in the 165-pound weight class; and
WHEREAS, the Delhi Charter girls' powerlifting team also saw two lifters stand on
the podium at the state championships; Katie Williamson put on an awe-inspiring
performance, placing first in the 181-pound weight class and breaking the state record for
deadlift in her weight class with a lift of three hundred forty pounds; Jadan Gwin placed
third in the 165-pound weight class; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Delhi Charter boys' powerlifting team are Kaden
Sauseda, Preston Ezell, Kaiden Blakley, Luka Rhodes, Roderick Gray, Levi Ezell, Trey
Quillen, Kameron Gray, and Garrett Williamson; the boys are coached by Josh Wallace; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Delhi Charter girls' powerlifting team are Gentry
Guice, Jadan Gwin, Katie Williamson, Olivia Winstead, and Chloe Ogden; the girls are
coached by Rebecca McKinney; and

WHEREAS, team manager Ezekiel McKinney is also most deserving of recognition
for assisting both teams throughout their seasons; and
WHEREAS, both the boys' and girls' powerlifting teams from Delhi Charter School
are incredibly talented and worthy of the highest honor for their incredible accomplishments;
and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Delhi Charter School powerlifting team and does hereby extend sincere hopes
for the continued success of all members, coaches, and managers of the school's powerlifting
teams.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Delhi Charter School headmaster.
