MEDICAID:  Urges and requests the La. Department of Health to utilize increased
collections from pharmacy rebates to increase rates for primary care providers in the
Medicaid program
Synopsis of Senate Amendments
1.Includes pharmacists as providers whose reimbursement rates the La. Dept. of
Health is urged to enhance using pharmacy rebate proceeds.
2.Adds findings about the duties, partnership involvement, and fund allocation of
pharmacists. 
3.Specifies that base reimbursement rates provided to primary care and pediatric
office visit evaluation and management codes may be increased if funds remain
available to do so.
Digest of Bill as Finally Passed by Senate
Requests the La. Dept. of Health to utilize increased pharmacy rebate collections within the
Medicaid program in Fiscal Year 2022-2023 to reimburse pharmacists to acquire prescription
drugs and then to increase primary care provider, pharmacist, and pediatric office visit
reimbursement rates to levels as provided by Medicare.
