HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 154

SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH:  Recognizes May 18, 2022, as Louisiana Film Day at the
state capitol
1	A RESOLUTION
2To recognize Wednesday, May 18, 2022, as Louisiana Film Day at the state capitol.
3 WHEREAS, in Louisiana, the motion picture industry creates nearly 10,000 jobs; and
4 WHEREAS, according the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, businesses with fewer
5than 500 employees account for 99.5 percent of businesses in Louisiana, and over 900,000
6Louisianians are employed by small businesses in sectors such as manufacturing, retail, the
7arts, hospitality, and film production; and
8 WHEREAS, over the years, Louisiana has become known as a premier filming
9location; and
10 WHEREAS, thousands of small businesses benefit from Louisiana's reputation in this
11regard, as each production filmed in the state contracts with many small businesses, from
12construction to food services to transportation logistics; and
13 WHEREAS, founded in 2012 and representing a major portion of the thousands of
14hard-working citizens and small business owners in Louisiana's film industry, the Louisiana
15Film and Entertainment Association is an independent nonprofit association with the mission
16to be a collaborative voice for Louisiana's film industry professionals and to communicate,
17educate, and advocate for the film industry in the state; and
18 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Film and Entertainment Association works in
19collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Economic Development to cultivate a
20diverse and transparent industry; and

1 WHEREAS, Louisiana's film industry benefits individuals across the state, provides
2unique opportunities for a diverse range of businesses to grow and thrive, and helps to
3strengthen Louisiana's reputation as a business-friendly state and as the best place to live,
4work, and raise a family.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
6Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize Wednesday, May 18, 2022, as Louisiana
7Film Day at the state capitol and does hereby commend Louisiana's film industry and the
8many small businesses that support it, and hereby extends best wishes for continued success
9and prosperity.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
11president of the Louisiana Film and Entertainment Association.
