ENROLLED 2022 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 154 BY REPRESENTATIVE DAVIS A RESOLUTION To recognize Wednesday, May 18, 2022, as Louisiana Film Day at the state capitol. WHEREAS, in Louisiana, the motion picture industry creates nearly 10,000 jobs; and WHEREAS, according the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, businesses with fewer than 500 employees account for 99.5 percent of businesses in Louisiana, and over 900,000 Louisianians are employed by small businesses in sectors such as manufacturing, retail, the arts, hospitality, and film production; and WHEREAS, over the years, Louisiana has become known as a premier filming location; and WHEREAS, thousands of small businesses benefit from Louisiana's reputation in this regard, as each production filmed in the state contracts with many small businesses, from construction to food services to transportation logistics; and WHEREAS, founded in 2012 and representing a major portion of the thousands of hard-working citizens and small business owners in Louisiana's film industry, the Louisiana Film and Entertainment Association is an independent nonprofit association with the mission to be a collaborative voice for Louisiana's film industry professionals and to communicate, educate, and advocate for the film industry in the state; and WHEREAS, the Louisiana Film and Entertainment Association works in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Economic Development to cultivate a diverse and transparent industry; and WHEREAS, Louisiana's film industry benefits individuals across the state, provides unique opportunities for a diverse range of businesses to grow and thrive, and helps to strengthen Louisiana's reputation as a business-friendly state and as the best place to live, work, and raise a family. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 154 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize Wednesday, May 18, 2022, as Louisiana Film Day at the state capitol and does hereby commend Louisiana's film industry and the many small businesses that support it, and hereby extends best wishes for continued success and prosperity.
