HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 164
BY REPRESENTATIVE MAGEE
A RESOLUTION
To commend the South Terrebonne High School baseball team on winning the Louisiana
High School Athletic Association 2022 Class 4A state championship.
WHEREAS, the fifteenth-seeded South Terrebonne High School Gators baseball
team stunned the Louisiana high school baseball community and captured the 2022 Class
4A state title by defeating top-seeded North Vermilion in the championship game at
McMurry Park in Sulphur, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the Gators' Cinderella run was capped off in the most dramatic fashion
possible; the team battled against Class 4A's top team until the very end, winning by a score
of 7-6 in extra innings; and
WHEREAS, the Gators benefitted from a number of incredible performances; Shea
Pitre launched the first pitch of the game for a home run, Drake Detillier hit a three-run
triple, and Bryce Lajaunie earned the win pitching in relief; additionally, Jackson Martin
drove in the game-winning run with a triple at the top of the eighth inning; and
WHEREAS, this victory marks the first state baseball title in South Terrebonne High
School's history; the school and its community were severely damaged by Hurricane Ida, but
they have both shown a truly inspiring measure of resilience and are most deserving of the
highest recognition.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the South Terrebonne High School baseball
team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2022 Class 4A state
championship; does hereby further recognize the incredible resilience of both the team and

its surrounding community; and does hereby extend sincere wishes that the team's players
and coaches continue to work hard and strive for greatness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
principal of South Terrebonne High School.
