SENATE BILL NO. 115

LAW ENFORCEMENT.  Provides relative to mandatory training for peace officers related
to human trafficking. (8/1/22)
1	AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 40:2405.7(D), relative to mandatory training by peace officers regarding
3 human trafficking; to provide reporting requirements; and to provide for related
4 matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 40:2405.7(D) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
7 ยง2405.7.  Human trafficking training; report to legislature

9	D.(1) Within one year of employment all peace officers, as defined in R.S.
10 40:2402, shall receive seven hours of training on human trafficking from the
11 Peace Officers Standards and Training Council online Learning Management
12 System program. All peace officers employed on August 1, 2022, who have been
13 employed for one year or more, shall receive seven hours of training on human
14 trafficking from the Peace Officers Standards and Training Council L.M.S.
15 program by December 31, 2022.
16	(2) The Peace Officers Standards and Training Council shall report
17 compliance percentages of human trafficking training to the Senate Committee

Proposed law requires that within one year of employment all peace officers in the state of
Louisiana complete training on human trafficking from the Peace Officers Standards and
Training Counsel Learning Management System program. Proposed law further provides
that all peace officers employed for one year or more on 8/1/22 must receive training on
human trafficking from the Peace Officers Standards and Training Counsel Learning
Management System program by 12/31/22.
Proposed law provides that the Peace Officers Standards and Training Counsel must provide
an annual report detailing compliance percentages to the Senate Committee on Judiciary C
by February 15.
Effective August 1, 2022.
