Proposed law requires that within one year of employment all peace officers in the state complete
training on human trafficking from the Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training's (council)
Learning Management System. Proposed law further provides that all peace officers employed for
one year or more on August 1, 2022, must receive training on human trafficking from the council's
Learning Management System by December 31, 2022.
Proposed law provides that beginning in 2023, the council must report compliance percentages of
human trafficking training to the Senate Committee on Judiciary B and the House Committee on
Judiciary, from the previous year not later than February 15
th
.
Proposed law requires the council adopt rules for the implementation of the human trafficking
training program.
Effective August 1, 2022.

Summary of Amendments Adopted by Senate
Committee Amendments Proposed by Senate Committee on Judiciary B to the original bill
1. Makes technical changes.
2. Requires the Council on Peace Officer Standards and Training to report compliance
percentages of human trafficking training to the legislature. 
3. Requests the council to adopt rules for the implementation of the human trafficking
training program.
