DIGEST SB 161 Original 2022 Regular Session Talbot Present law provides that the crime of carjacking is punishable by imprisonment at hard labor for between two and 20 years without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. Proposed law retains present law and provides for increased penalty of not less than 11 nor more than 20 years when the crime of carjacking is committed with a firearm or other dangerous weapon. Effective August 1, 2022. (Amends R.S. 14:64.2(B))
