DIGEST SB 161 Reengrossed 2022 Regular Session Talbot Present law provides that the crime of carjacking is punishable by imprisonment at hard labor for between two and 20 years without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. Proposed law retains present law and provides for increased penalty of not less than eight nor more than 20 years, without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence when during the commission of the crime of carjacking serious bodily injury is caused. Effective August 1, 2022. (Amends R.S. 14:64.2(B)) Summary of Amendments Adopted by Senate Senate Floor Amendments to engrossed bill 1.
