DIGEST SB 191 Reengrossed 2022 Regular Session Hewitt Present law provides for a high school core curriculum that is required for a student to be eligible for a Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) award. Present law requires two units of foreign language that are in the same language. Proposed law provides that students graduating during or after the 2025-2026 school year, may elect to earn two units in computer science or two units in the same foreign language. Proposed law provides the Computer Science units shall be in computer science principles, coding, or programming and lists certain courses allowed for credit in the required TOPS core. Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
