INDIGENT DEFENSE. Repeals statute creating the position of deputy public defender,
director of training. (8/1/22)
1 AN ACT
2 To repeal R.S. 15:153, relative to the Louisiana Public Defender Board; to repeal the
3 authority of the board to employ a deputy public defender, director of training; and
4 to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 15:153 is hereby repealed.

Present law authorizes the Louisiana Public Defender Board to employ a deputy public
defender, director of training. Furthermore, present law provides for the deputy public
defender, director of training, to meet certain qualifications and describes the job duties that
must be performed.
Proposed law repeals such authority.
Effective August 1, 2022.
