Present law provides for the powers, duties, and responsibilities of the Public Defender Board, and
provides that the board may enter into contracts with various attorneys, local, state, and federal
agencies.
Proposed law retains present law and further establishes that the Public Defender Board shall enter
into a contract with the University of Louisiana at Monroe, to provide training to certain attorneys,
investigators, social workers, and staff.
Effective July 1, 2022.
