2022 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE BILL NO. 281 BY SENATOR BERNARD AND REPRESENTATI VE THOMPSON 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 18:154(D)(4) and to enact R.S. 18:154(D)(5), relative to 3 confidentiality of certain records for candidates; to provide for exceptions; and to 4 provide for related matters. 5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. R.S. 18:154(D)(4) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S. 7 18:154(D)(5) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8 ยง154. Records open to inspection; copying; exceptions 9 * * * 10 D. * * * 11 (4) Notwithstanding any provision of this Section to the contrary, the 12 registrar of voters, Department of State, and the clerk of court may disclose the 13 name and address of a law enforcement officer who has qualified as a candidate 14 for office between the date of qualifying of the candidate and the general 15 election. 16 (4)(5) Any agency employing a law enforcement officer availing himself of 17 Paragraph (1) or (2) of this Subsection shall also issue decertification notices to the 18 registrar of voters and the secretary of state when the officer is no longer engaging Page 1 of 2 Coding: Words which are struck through are deletions from existing law; words in boldface type and underscored are additions.
