2022 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE BILL NO. 458 BY SENATOR HARRIS 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact the introductory paragraph of R.S. 38:330.1(C)(1)(a) and to repeal 3 R.S. 38:291(W)(2) and R.S. 38:330.1(B)(1)(a)(v), relative to flood protection 4 authorities; to provide relative to the board of commissioners of the Southeast 5 Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East; to provide for an effective date; and to 6 provide for related matters. 7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 8 Section 1. The introductory paragraph of R.S. 38:330.1(C)(1)(a) is hereby amended 9 and reenacted to read as follows: 10 ยง330.1. Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East and Southeast 11 Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-West Bank; territorial 12 jurisdiction; board of commissioners; appointments; terms; 13 compensation; vacancy; officers; meetings; domicile 14 * * * 15 C.(1) There is hereby created a board of commissioners for each flood 16 protection authority as follows: 17 (a) The board of commissioners of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection 18 Authority-East shall be composed of nine members, of whom there shall be at least, 19 and not more than, one member from each parish one member from St. Bernard 20 Parish, two members from Jefferson Parish, and three members from Orleans 21 Parish who shall reside within the territorial jurisdiction of the authority. SB NO. 458 ENROLLED 1 Section 2. R.S. 38:291(W)(2) and R.S. 38:330.1(B)(1)(a)(v) are hereby repealed. 2 Section 3. Each commissioner currently serving on the Southeast Louisiana Flood 3 Protection Authority-East may complete the term for which he was appointed. The 4 commissioners as established by this Act, shall be appointed when a current commissioner 5 resigns, dies, or his term expires. 6 Section 4. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 7 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 8 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 9 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 10 effective on the day following such approval.
