SENATE BILL NO. 52

1	AN ACT
2 To provide relative to state highways; to designate the Black Bayou Bridge on Louisiana
3 Highway 384 in Calcasieu Parish as the "Dorothy Carter Memorial Bridge"; to
4 provide for an effective date; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, the Black Bayou
7 Bridge on Louisiana Highway 384 in Calcasieu Parish is hereby designated as the
8 "Dorothy Carter Memorial Bridge".
9 Section 2. The Department of Transportation and Development is hereby
10 directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs of this designation provided local or
11 private monies are received by the department equal to the department's actual costs
12 for material, fabrication, mounting posts, and installation of each sign, not to exceed
13 the sum of five hundred fifty dollars per sign.
14 Section 3. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
15 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
16 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If
17 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
18 effective on the day following such approval.
