SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 118

CONDOLENCES. Expresses condolences upon the passing of Glorious Williams Lofton.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
3 passing of Glorious Williams Lofton.
4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Louisiana
5 learned of the death of Glorious W. Lofton on April 21, 2022, at the age of eighty-two; and
6 WHEREAS, Glorious, a native of Blairstown, Louisiana and a resident of Baton
7 Rouge, Louisiana, was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother
8 who loved spending time with her loved ones; and
9 WHEREAS, she is survived by two sons, Ronald T. Lofton (Melissa) of Niceville,
10 Florida, and Reverend John A. Lofton Jr.; ten grandchildren, Willie Baker, Krystal Jones,
11 Eldon and Omar Spears, Jeremi Glasper, Patience, Brandy, Paige, and Hayley Lofton, and
12 Eddie Lee Palmer III; fourteen great-grandchildren; three siblings, Edmond C. Williams,
13 Viola Collins, and Ora Williams; and
14 WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, John A.
15 Lofton Sr.; her parents; and a daughter, Gwendolyn Palmer; and
16 WHEREAS, although the death of Glorious W. Lofton, often described by her
17 friends and family as a virtuous woman who lived life well, has left a tremendous void, her
18 memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and loved such a

1 wonderful person.
2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
3 does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Glorious
4 W. Lofton upon her passing.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
6 Rev. John A. Lofton Jr.
