SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 122

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Montgomery Lady Tigers softball team on winning the
2022 LHSAA Class 1A State Championship.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the Montgomery High School Lady Tigers softball team on winning the 2022
3 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 1A State Championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Montgomery High School Lady Tigers softball team made history
5 when they claimed the first ever state title for Montgomery High School; and
6 WHEREAS, the Montgomery varsity softball team secured the 2022 Louisiana High
7 School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Class 1A State Championship title by defeating
8 district rival LaSalle High School 8-3 in the championship game held at North Frasch Park
9 in Sulphur, Louisiana; and
10 WHEREAS, with a relatively young team having only two seniors and two junior
11 starters, the team grew up as the season progressed and won the 2022 District 3-1A
12 Championship; and
13 WHEREAS, during the state playoffs, Montgomery pitcher Brighley Crayon had
14 seven strikeouts in two games and she earned Most Outstanding Player honors; and
15 WHEREAS, the Montgomery High School softball program is led by Coach Paige
16 Grayson who realized that this year's softball team was different after the team went 3-0 in
17 the Acadiana High softball tournament in March; and
18 WHEREAS, Montgomery finished the 2022 softball season with an impressive

1 record of thirty-three wins and only one loss; and
2 WHEREAS, the entire softball team is most deserving of the highest recognition for
3 their outstanding achievement this year.
4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
5 does hereby commend the Montgomery Lady Tigers softball team on winning the 2022
6 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 1A State Championship and does hereby
7 extend sincerest hopes for the team's continued success for many years to come.
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
9 Michael Edwards, principal of Montgomery High School.
