SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 137
BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Ginger Myers on receiving honorary doctorate from UL-
Lafayette and recognizes her for her work with the LCH Group.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Ginger Myers on receiving an honorary doctorate from the University of
3 Louisiana-Lafayette and to recognize her for her work with the LHC Group.
4 WHEREAS, Ginger Myers was awarded an honorary doctorate of nursing practice
5 during the University of Louisiana-Lafayette's Spring 2022 commencement ceremonies; and
6 WHEREAS, Ginger Myers is a nurse, a community leader, a businesswoman, and
7 a philanthropist; and
8 WHEREAS, in 1994, Myers cofounded the Lafayette-based LHC Group as a single
9 freestanding home health agency in rural St. Landry Parish; and
10 WHEREAS, the LHC Group was established in recognition of the need for greater
11 access to health care among aging, rural residents; and
12 WHEREAS, the LHC Group has grown and provides high quality care to patients
13 through home health, hospice, home- and community-based services, and facility-based care;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, Ginger Myers was the first nurse on staff with the LHC Group and she
16 has worked in a range of nursing and administrative roles in St. Landry Parish for more than
17 two decades; and
18 WHEREAS, Myers was active in coordinating one of Louisiana's first rural health

1 clinics and in opening the first ophthalmologic surgery center in Acadiana; and
2 WHEREAS, in early 2022, the University of Louisiana-Lafayette renamed the
3 College of Nursing and Health Sciences Department as the LHC Group-Myers School of
4 Nursing.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
6 does hereby commend Ginger Myers on receiving an honorary doctorate from the University
7 of Louisiana-Lafayette and recognizes her for her work with the LHC Group
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
9 Ginger Myers.
