Expresses sincere and heartfelt condolences on the passing of Dustin Hamilton. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the 3 passing of Dustin Hamilton and to commend him for his public service. 4 WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the Louisiana 5 Senate has learned of the tragic and untimely passing of Deputy Sheriff Dustin Hamilton; 6 and 7 WHEREAS, Dustin Hamilton was a native of Baton Rouge and a longtime resident 8 of Central, Louisiana; and 9 WHEREAS, Dustin graduated from Central High School with academic honors while 10 simultaneously working part-time as a swing manager for the McDonald's Corporation; and 11 WHEREAS, after graduating from high school, Dustin attended Southeastern 12 Louisiana University (SLU) in Hammond, Louisiana, where he graduated with a Bachelor 13 of Arts in Criminal Justice; and 14 WHEREAS, after graduating from SLU, Dustin attended the Capital Area Regional 15 Training Academy (CARTA) and successfully completed his law enforcement training; and 16 WHEREAS, Dustin was employed by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office as a 17 deputy sheriff where he worked for two years; and 18 WHEREAS, it was his heart's desire to catch criminals, especially those who were Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 169 SLS 22RS-3636 ORIGINAL 1 harming elderly people; and 2 WHEREAS, Dustin was killed in a fatal car crash while working a deputy sheriff 3 detail on Friday, September 27, 2013; and 4 WHEREAS, Dustin truly enjoyed being a deputy, he had a passion for law 5 enforcement, and he is deeply missed; and 6 WHEREAS, Dustin Blake Hamilton leaves to cherish his memory his loving and 7 devoted mother Nanette, his father David Bruce, his older brother David Nicholas, and 8 Hanna Daas Joiner, who was his fiancée at the time of his untimely death; and 9 WHEREAS, Dustin is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Hattie and 10 Barney Beebe Sr., his step-grandfather Edgar Domingue, and his parental grandparents 11 George and Ouida Hamilton. 12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 13 does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the passing of Deputy Sheriff Dustin Blake 14 Hamilton and does hereby commend him for his public service and extend sincerest wishes 15 of comfort to his family and friends who mourn his passing. 16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the 17 family of Dustin Hamilton.
