SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 187

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Lieutenant Jennifer Duet of the Livingston Parish
Sheriff's Office on being named the 2022 Deputy of the Year.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Lieutenant Jennifer Duet of the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office on being the
3 recipient of the 2022 Deputy of the Year Award, presented by the Louisiana Sheriffs'
4 Association.
5 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association presents the Deputy of the Year
6 Award to recognize a deputy sheriff who has shown unusual initiative and imagination in
7 the performance of their duty, and recognizes activities that improve the quality of life in
8 their community; and
9 WHEREAS, since 2007, Lieutenant Duet has worked for the Livingston Parish
10 Sheriff's Office, and is currently working in the Juvenile Division; and
11 WHEREAS, on November 17, 2019, Lieutenant Duet's daughter, Ariel Bartholomew,
12 was killed by a drunk driver; and
13 WHEREAS, when Lieutenant Duet was called to give a victim impact statement,
14 instead of seeking punishment or revenge, she asked that the driver use the experience to
15 help others understand the consequences of drinking and driving; and
16 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Duet continues to use her voice to speak out against drunk
17 driving and shares Ariel's story to honor her daughter's legacy; and
18 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Duet continues to expand her efforts on this work through

1 her recent partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD); and
2 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Jennifer Duet merits the highest commendation and sincere
3 congratulations for her exemplary public service and for her outstanding contributions to
4 Livingston Parish, the state of Louisiana, and its citizens.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
6 does hereby commend and congratulate Lieutenant Jennifer Duet of the Livingston Parish
7 Sheriff's Office on being the recipient of the 2022 Deputy of the Year Award from the
8 Louisiana Sheriffs' Association, does hereby recognize and record for posterity her tireless
9 dedication and service to the citizens of Livingston Parish and the state of Louisiana, and
10 does hereby extend to her best wishes for continued success and happiness in all her future
11 endeavors.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
13 Lieutenant Jennifer Duet.
