Commends Bobby Hebert, who served in the Navy during WWII, upon the celebration of his 100 th birthday. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To commend Bobby Hebert, a World War II Navy veteran, upon the celebration of his 100th 3 birthday. 4 WHEREAS, D. J. "Bobby" Hebert, a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, 5 Louisiana, was born August 4, 1922; and 6 WHEREAS, Bobby worked as a boat builder prior to serving as a Seabee in the 7 South Pacific during World War II; and 8 WHEREAS, Bobby returned to Lafayette after the war and continued his work as a 9 boat builder; and 10 WHEREAS, Bobby left the boat building business and partnered with his cousin, 11 Henry Hebert, to grow Top's Woodwork in Lafayette into a well-respected home and 12 commercial building business in Acadiana; and 13 WHEREAS, Bobby continued to build and expand Top's Woodwork until the two 14 cousins retired and sold the business; and 15 WHEREAS, Bobby married the love of his life, Dorothy, and together they had five 16 children: one son and four daughters; and 17 WHEREAS, Bobby enjoys being on the water whether it is to saltwater fish or for 18 an afternoon boat ride.
