2022 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 23 BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX A RESOLUTION To commend the city of Scott, Louisiana, upon the start of the annual Boudin Festival season. WHEREAS, the Scott Boudin Festival is an annual celebration that attracts people from all over the country to Scott, Louisiana, for the enjoyment of its delicacies, warm southern hospitality as well as the unique art, regional crafts, and inspiring music; and WHEREAS, the city of Scott began the 2022 Boudin Festival season with a flag raising ceremony on March eighteenth in honor of the annual Boudin Festival; and WHEREAS, Daniel Noel serves as president of the festival and Emily Leleux reigns as Miss Scott Boudin IX and her court for the 2022 festival season includes Jaylee Kay LeDoux, Teen Miss Scott Boudin Festival; Ashley Babineaux Robin, Ms. Scott Boudin Festival; Emma Kate Rogers, Junior Miss Scott Boudin Festival; Ahna Renee Malorin, Deb Miss Scott Boudin Festival; Kassidy "Kass" Bonin, Little Miss Scott Boudin Festival; Olivia Kay Leger, Petite Miss Scott Boudin Festival; Ruby-June Newland, Tiny Miss Scott Boudin Festival; Trislyn Eaglin, Toddler Miss Scott Boudin Festival; Elliot Malcolm Viator, Little Mister Scott Boudin Festival; and Hallie Ann Bordelon, Baby Miss Scott Boudin Festival; and WHEREAS, in 2012, the Louisiana Legislature designated the city of Scott as the Boudin Capital of the World being home to several well-known and respected boudin vendors, and with this designation, the city of Scott began its celebration of its distinct honor with a family friendly festival held in April of each year, the inaugural festival being held in 2013; and WHEREAS, the festival weekend has grown to include three days of top notch entertainment, dance contests, boudin eating contests, an arts and craft fair, a fireworks display, fantastic carnival rides, and an awesome array of food, including all types of boudin prepared in a multitude of ways; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 23 ENROLLED WHEREAS, boudin itself is one of the great traditional food specialties of the Cajun heritage and serves as a wonderful focal point for a celebration of the rich Cajun culture that has found a home in and around Scott for generations; and WHEREAS, the boudin prepared and sold in Scott is said to be the best-tasting boudin in the world; and WHEREAS, the boudin stores within the city employ more than eighty employees who manufacture and sell over one million three hundred thousand pounds of boudin every year, which amounts to approximately five million dollars in sales per year; and WHEREAS, local sales taxes generated just from the sale of boudin alone result in substantial financial income to the city of Scott; and WHEREAS, the Boudin Festival season is a source of pride and joy for the people of Scott, and enriching experiences for all who participate, and merits a sincere measure of commendation for its contributions to the culture and economy of Louisiana. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the city of Scott upon the start of the Boudin Festival Season; and does hereby express appreciation to all of those who devote their time and talents to the community of Scott in continuing to celebrate their rich Cajun heritage through their involvement in the Scott Boudin Festival.
