SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 26
BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX 
A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate Harold L. Taylor upon his induction into the St. Landry
Parish Democratic Party Hall of Fame.
WHEREAS, throughout his life Harold has been involved in community service in
his hometown of Palmetto, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, at the age of thirteen, one of his first community projects, and the one
that cemented his lifelong desire to help others, was a project wherein he assisted in the
organizing of a community volunteer fire department, served as a volunteer fireman, and was
elected to its first board of directors; and
WHEREAS, following college, Harold returned to the village of Palmetto and at the
age of twenty-two was elected to the town council and ten years later was elected its mayor;
and
WHEREAS, during his thirty-year tenure in elected office, he organized community
projects to improve the lives of the residents in St. Landry Parish, including extending the
community water system to service the communities around Palmetto which benefitted
hundreds of families, improving roads, and establishing a community scholarship program
for graduating high school seniors; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor also established and operated a food bank, sponsored a
community beautification project in Palmetto, assisted a local church in establishing an
educational summer enrichment program, and was instrumental in bringing healthcare
services to his local community; and
WHEREAS, for his years of service to his community, Mr. Taylor was recognized
in Washington, D.C. as a visionary leader by the National Association of Small-Town
Communities; and

WHEREAS, in 2002, Mr. Taylor retired from public service and joined Louisiana
Healthcare Group, a healthcare company he co-founded that provides in-home healthcare
services; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor has served on many nonprofit boards over his career and is
currently serving on the board of the Opelousas General Health System Foundation, St.
Landry Foundation, and the Harold & Ammy Taylor Foundation; and 
WHEREAS, the St. Landry Democratic Parish Executive Committee periodically
considers persons of high ethical and moral character who have promoted the principles of
constitutional equality, personal liberty, economic opportunity, and government and fiscal
responsibility and has positively influenced the entire parish and the state; and
WHEREAS, as recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award, the St. Landry
Democratic Party considers Mr. Taylor to be a person who recognizes and respects the
diversity of all Americans and promotes the common unity of all, leading his political party
and displaying strong leadership throughout his career; and
WHEREAS, Harold L. Taylor demonstrates a devotion to all of the principles of the
St. Landry Democratic Party with a lifetime championing principles that are so essential to
the ideas of American democracy; and
WHEREAS, during the Lifetime Achievement Banquet to be held on April 7, 2022,
Harold L. Taylor will be inducted into the St. Landry Parish Democratic Party Hall of Fame.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Harold L. Taylor upon his induction into the St.
Landry Parish Democratic Party Hall of Fame.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Harold L. Taylor.
