2022 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 47 BY SENATOR FOIL A RESOLUTION To commend the Junior League of Baton Rouge on the occasion of its ninetieth anniversary and declare Monday, April 18, 2022, as Junior League Day at the state capitol. WHEREAS, the Junior League of Baton Rouge is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the action and leadership of its trained volunteers; and WHEREAS, the Junior League of Baton Rouge has a vision to encourage women to be catalysts for lasting community change in the areas of health, education, and cultural development; and WHEREAS, the Junior League of Baton Rouge has an extensive history of service to children and families and has been instrumental in founding and funding many of Baton Rouge's institutions, including the Louisiana Arts and Science Museum, the Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing Foundation, Volunteers in Public Schools, Adopt-A-School, Magnolia Mound Kitchen, East Baton Rouge Parish Library Information Service, Volunteer! Baton Rouge, Playmakers, Peer Helpers, and the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge; and WHEREAS, the Junior League of Baton Rouge has also founded and funded the Parenting Center that is currently known as Family Services of Baton Rouge and Excellence in Teaching from which the Academic Distinction Fund was modeled; and WHEREAS, since its beginnings with 50 charter members in 1932, the Junior League of Baton Rouge has grown to a current membership of 400 active members and 130 new members including homemakers, professionals, and volunteer community leaders with a wide variety of skills and talents that each brings to her individual placement, along with the more than 1,100 sustaining members who capitalize on their Junior League experience by continuing to improve the community through service with other volunteer organizations; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 47 ENROLLED WHEREAS, the Junior League of Baton Rouge welcomes all women who value the mission of the Junior League of Baton Rouge and are committed to inclusive environments of diverse individuals, organizations, and communities; and WHEREAS, the Junior League of Baton Rouge is a member of the Association of Junior League International, Inc., a network of more than one hundred fifty-five thousand members in two hundred ninety-three communities in four countries: the United States of America, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Junior League of Baton Rouge on the occasion of its ninetieth anniversary and declare Monday, April 18, 2022, as Junior League Day at the state capitol. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Tristi Charpentier, president of the board of directors of the Junior League of Baton Rouge. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE Page 2 of 2
