Commends Wendy Thibodeaux for her many years of public service with the Lafourche Parish Assessor's Office and congratulates her for being named the 2022 Assessor of the Year by the Louisiana Assessors' Association. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To commend Wendy Thibodeaux for her many years of public service with the Lafourche 3 Parish Assessor's Office and congratulate her for being named the 2022 Assessor of 4 the Year by the Louisiana Assessors' Association. 5 WHEREAS, there are sixty-four assessors in the state, one elected from each parish, 6 and each year, one assessor is selected and receives the distinguished honor of being named 7 the Louisiana Assessors' Association Assessor of the Year; and 8 WHEREAS, Wendy L. Thibodeaux was born on July 4, 1971, and is a native of St. 9 Bernard Parish, and in 2001, she relocated to Lafourche, Louisiana, where she has resided 10 for nearly twenty years before moving to Thibodaux, Louisiana; and 11 WHEREAS, Wendy Thibodeaux's career with the Lafourche Parish Assessor's Office 12 began in 2001, and by 2006, she was appointed to the position of chief deputy assessor; and 13 WHEREAS, in 2014, she was elected by the voters of Lafourche Parish to serve as 14 their assessor, and she was reelected to serve as assessor twice, without opposition, in 2015 15 and 2019; and 16 WHEREAS, Wendy Thibodeaux was elected by her peers to serve on the Board of 17 Directors of the Louisiana Assessors' Association in 2022; and 18 WHEREAS, she serves as the chairperson of the Assessor's Association Watercraft Page 1 of 3 SR NO. 49 SLS 22RS-715 ORIGINAL 1 Committee and is the co-chair of the Orientation and Professional Development Committee 2 and a committee member of the Assessor's Legislative Affairs and Oil and Gas committees; 3 and 4 WHEREAS, in addition to her service on professional boards and committees, she 5 has been and continues to be a strong advocate for Lafourche Parish and is committed to the 6 betterment of her community by her involvement in many civic organizations, including the 7 Lafourche and Thibodaux Chambers of Commerce, the Bayou Industrial Group, the 8 Louisiana Girls Leadership Academy, South Central Industrial Association, and the Krewe 9 of Versailles, where she reigned as Queen XLVI; and 10 WHEREAS, on Monday, December 6, 2021, Wendy L. Thibodeaux was awarded the 11 2022 Assessor of the Year Award by the Louisiana Assessors' Association as the most 12 deserving assessor in the state; and 13 WHEREAS, she is a strong leader and advocate for Lafourche Parish residents and 14 was recognized for her ability to stand up for a fair and equitable tax system and for being 15 a tenacious leader that works closely with her colleagues to fend off unfair tax policies; and 16 WHEREAS, Wendy L. Thibodeaux goes to work each day with the same passion to 17 learn and serve the people of Lafourche Parish that she had on her first day with the 18 Lafourche Parish Assessor's Office and merits a sincere measure of commendation for her 19 career achievements, outstanding accomplishments, and commitment to the people of 20 Lafourche Parish. 21 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 22 does hereby commend Wendy L. Thibodeaux for her many years of public service with the 23 Lafourche Parish Assessor's Office and congratulate her for being named the 2022 Assessor 24 of the Year by the Louisiana Assessors' Association. 25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 26 Wendy L.
