SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 5
BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Mayor Glenn L. Brasseaux for his many years of public
service to the city of Carencro and congratulates him as he prepares to retire December 31,
2022.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Mayor Glenn L. Brasseaux for his long and distinguished career and
3 exemplary public service to the city of Carencro, Louisiana, upon the occasion of his
4 richly deserved retirement.
5 WHEREAS, Glenn Brasseaux is a lifelong resident of Carencro, married to the
6 former Nannette Guilbeau; together they raised three sons who are married and have blessed
7 them with grandsons; and
8 WHEREAS, a man of faith, Glenn is a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in
9 Carencro where he serves as Eucharistic Minister and also as the past president of Carencro
10 Catholic School PTC and past board member of Carencro Catholic School; and
11 WHEREAS, Glenn graduated from Carencro High School and holds a Bachelor of
12 Science in Business from the University of Southwestern Louisiana; and
13 WHEREAS, he started his career of public service in 1965 when he joined the
14 Carencro Volunteer Fire Department as a high school sophomore; he eventually became the
15 fire chief, remaining with the department for thirty years; and
16 WHEREAS, in 1987 he was elected to the city council where he served for
17 twenty-five years, including twelve years as the mayor pro tempore; and
18 WHEREAS, in 2003 he was elected as mayor of Carencro with the goal of making

1 Carencro a better place to live, work, and raise families; he witnessed Carencro become a
2 progressive city with a small-town atmosphere, growing rapidly, both commercially and
3 residentially; and
4 WHEREAS, having served as mayor for nineteen years, he is the longest serving
5 mayor in Lafayette Parish and the second longest serving mayor in Acadiana; and
6 WHEREAS, Glenn loves a good laugh and cares deeply about the people in
7 Carencro; his attendance at school functions, church functions, and fundraising events in the
8 community has become his hallmark; and
9 WHEREAS, Glenn is known as someone who is always willing to help and his door
10 is always open; and
11 WHEREAS, he has a gift for talking to you at your level and making you feel at
12 home in his presence; and
13 WHEREAS, Glenn's public service has included such boards and committees as the
14 Carencro Business Association, Carencro Civic Club, Carencro Jaycees, Carencro
15 Centennial Committee, the Upper Lafayette Economic Development Foundation, the
16 Lafayette Parish 911 Commission, the Lafayette Parish Emergency Management Advisory
17 Committee, the Louisiana Municipal Association, the Louisiana Rural Water Association-
18 District 4, the Louisiana Municipal Gas Authority, and a plethora of other boards,
19 commissions, and advisory groups; and
20 WHEREAS, when asked to comment on his upcoming retirement, Glenn says,
21 "There comes a point when you know that it is time to pass the baton to someone else; for
22 me, that time is now."
23 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
24 does hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Glenn L. Brasseaux for a long and distinguished
25 career in public service to the people of the city of Carencro, the parish of Lafayette, and the
26 state of Louisiana.
27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby extend
28 best wishes to Mr. Glenn Brasseaux on the occasion of his retirement from his position as
29 mayor of the city of Carencro, Louisiana, and hopes for health and happiness as he begins
30 the next chapter of his life and embarks on new adventures, endeavors, and a well-deserved

2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
3 Carencro's Mayor Glenn L. Brasseaux.
