2022 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 5 BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX A RESOLUTION To commend Mayor Glenn L. Brasseaux for his long and distinguished career and exemplary public service to the city of Carencro, Louisiana, upon the occasion of his richly deserved retirement. WHEREAS, Glenn Brasseaux is a lifelong resident of Carencro, married to the former Nannette Guilbeau; together they raised three sons who are married and have blessed them with grandsons; and WHEREAS, a man of faith, Glenn is a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro where he serves as Eucharistic Minister and also as the past president of Carencro Catholic School PTC and past board member of Carencro Catholic School; and WHEREAS, Glenn graduated from Carencro High School and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Southwestern Louisiana; and WHEREAS, he started his career of public service in 1965 when he joined the Carencro Volunteer Fire Department as a high school sophomore; he eventually became the fire chief, remaining with the department for thirty years; and WHEREAS, in 1987 he was elected to the city council where he served for twenty-five years, including twelve years as the mayor pro tempore; and WHEREAS, in 2003 he was elected as mayor of Carencro with the goal of making Carencro a better place to live, work, and raise families; he witnessed Carencro become a progressive city with a small-town atmosphere, growing rapidly, both commercially and residentially; and WHEREAS, having served as mayor for nineteen years, he is the longest serving mayor in Lafayette Parish and the second longest serving mayor in Acadiana; and WHEREAS, Glenn loves a good laugh and cares deeply about the people in Carencro; his attendance at school functions, church functions, and fundraising events in the community has become his hallmark; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 5 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Glenn is known as someone who is always willing to help and his door is always open; and WHEREAS, he has a gift for talking to you at your level and making you feel at home in his presence; and WHEREAS, Glenn's public service has included such boards and committees as the Carencro Business Association, Carencro Civic Club, Carencro Jaycees, Carencro Centennial Committee, the Upper Lafayette Economic Development Foundation, the Lafayette Parish 911 Commission, the Lafayette Parish Emergency Management Advisory Committee, the Louisiana Municipal Association, the Louisiana Rural Water Association-District 4, the Louisiana Municipal Gas Authority, and a plethora of other boards, commissions, and advisory groups; and WHEREAS, when asked to comment on his upcoming retirement, Glenn says, "There comes a point when you know that it is time to pass the baton to someone else; for me, that time is now." THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Glenn L. Brasseaux for a long and distinguished career in public service to the people of the city of Carencro, the parish of Lafayette, and the state of Louisiana. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby extend best wishes to Mr. Glenn Brasseaux on the occasion of his retirement from his position as mayor of the city of Carencro, Louisiana, and hopes for health and happiness as he begins the next chapter of his life and embarks on new adventures, endeavors, and a well-deserved rest.
