2022 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 56 BY SENATOR BERNARD A RESOLUTION To commend Susan Jackson on being inducted into the 2022 class of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. WHEREAS, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches, Louisiana, each year collaborates with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in selecting a limited number of sports figures who embody the character, skill, and talent worthy of being named to the Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, the 2022 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class includes Susan Jackson; and WHEREAS, Texas native Susan Jackson is one of the greatest athletes in Louisiana State University gymnastics history; and WHEREAS, Susan cemented her name as one of the best by shattering school records and accomplishing numerous firsts in school history during a very dominant senior season; and WHEREAS, she became the second LSU gymnast to win two national titles in one meet, equaling the feat accomplished by Ashleigh Clare-Kearney in 2009; and WHEREAS, Susan ended her outstanding career with three individual national titles, the most in school history, and winning LSU's first National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) all-around title in 2010 with a four-event score of 39.625; and WHEREAS, Susan won the NCAA's individual title on vault in 2008, and on balance beam in 2010; and WHEREAS, she was a first team All-American on vault, uneven parallel bars, balance beam and in all-around in 2010, becoming the second LSU female athlete to win the Roy F. Kramer Southeastern Conference (SEC) Female Athlete-of-the-Year award; and WHEREAS, Susan finished second in LSU history with an amazing twelve career All-American honors, including eleven first-team honors; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 56 ENROLLED WHEREAS, she was LSU's first American Athletic, Inc. (AAI) award-winner as the nation's top senior gymnast and became the first Tiger gymnast to win the Honda Award as the nation's best gymnast; and WHEREAS, Susan broke the school record for all-around titles in a single season with eleven during her senior year; and WHEREAS, Susan Jackson won seventy-four individual all-around titles during her four-year career: nineteen on vault, fourteen on bars, thirteen on balance beam, twelve on floor exercise, and sixteen in all-around; and WHEREAS, in 2019 she was inducted in the LSU Athletics Hall of Fame. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Susan Jackson on being inducted into the 2022 class of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
