Abstract:  Provides that cytomegalovirus (CMV) shall be added to the list of genetic conditions
tested by physicians attending newborn children.
Present law provides that a physician attending to the care of a newborn child shall cause the child
to be subjected to a list of genetic conditions provided for in present law that has been approved by
the La. Dept. of Health (LDH). Present law further provides that the genetic conditions shall be
tested upon approval by the newborn child's parents.
Proposed law retains present law and adds cytomegalovirus (CMV) to the list of genetic conditions
to be approved and tested by LDH. 
Proposed law shall be known and may be cited as "Journie's Law".
