Abstract: To require the office of motor vehicles within the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections
to accept credit cards, charge cards, and debit cards for the payment of fees, fines, taxes,
penalties, and interest.
Present law authorizes the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to accept credit cards, charge
cards, or debit cards for the payment of fees, fines, taxes, penalties, and interest.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law authorizes the department to determine which specific programs or offices or locations
will accept credit cards, charge cards, or debit cards as payment.
Proposed law requires the office of motor vehicles to accept credit cards, charge cards, and debit
cards as a method of payment for fees, fines, taxes, penalties, and interest. Otherwise retains present
law.
