MTR VEHICLE/VIOLATIONS:  Provides relative to uniform traffic citations
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 32:398.4, relative to uniform traffic citations; to provide relative
3 to the prosecution of citations; to provide for a copy of citation; to provide relative
4 to notary and ex officio notary electronic signatures; and to provide for related
5 matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 32:398.4 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
8 ยง398.4.  When copy of citation shall be deemed a lawful complaint
9	In the event the citation form provided for in this Part is sworn to and
10 includes the necessary information required under the general laws of this state with
11 respect to a complaint which charges commission of the offense alleged in said
12 citation to have been committed, then such citation, when filed with a court of proper
13 jurisdiction, shall be deemed to be a lawful complaint for the purpose of prosecution
14 under this Part.  An electronic signature from a notary or ex officio notary shall be
15 authorized for this purpose.

Abstract: Provides for the use of electronic signatures in copies of traffic citations.
Present law (R.S. 32:398.1 et seq.) provides for the form for and disposition of uniform
traffic citations.
Present law provides for the use of a copy of the traffic citation to be used as a lawful
complaint for the purposes of prosecution.
Proposed law retains present law and provides that an electronic signature from a notary or
ex-officio notary is authorized for the purpose of present law.
