R.S. 40:1730.23(J) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 9 ยง1730.23. Enforcement of building codes by municipalities and parishes 10 * * * 11 J. For purposes of code enforcement pursuant to this Section, a properly 12 registered certified building inspector building code enforcement officer or a 13 certified third-party provider shall conduct all inspections of any commercial or 14 residential structure, with the exception of roofing inspections, and shall be present 15 on site for such inspections. A building code enforcement officer or a certified third- 16 party provider may accept photographs or videos that are location verified with 17 geotagging for required roofing and reroofing inspections of any commercial or 18 residential structure. Present law requires that a properly registered certified building inspector conduct all inspections of any commercial or residential structure and requires that the inspector be present on site for such inspections. Proposed law changes present law by requiring that inspections of any commercial or residential structure be done by a building code enforcement officer or a certified third-party provider. Proposed law requires that all building code enforcement officers or certified third-party providers be on site for inspections, except for roofing inspections. Proposed law allows a building code enforcement officer or a certified third-party provider to accept photographs or videos that are location verified with geotagging for required roofing and reroofing inspections of any commercial or residential structure.
