Abstract: Provides relative to per diem paid to board members of Concordia Parish Hospital
Service District No. 1.
Present law generally authorizes parish governing authorities to create hospital service districts
within the respective parishes or to combine two or more parishes into a single hospital service
district. Provides generally that hospital service districts are governed by a board of five
commissioners. Further requires that commissioners be qualified voters and residents of the district.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law generally authorizes parish governing authorities to permit a per diem to each member
of the commission in an amount of not less than $25 nor more than $40 for each day of attendance
at commission meetings for up to 12 meetings per year. Provides further that per diem is payable
out of the funds of the district. Provides exceptions.
Present law provides an exception for Concordia Parish Hospital Service District No. 1; provides
that the maximum per diem is $100.
Proposed law provides relative to the exception for Concordia Parish Hospital Service District No.
1. Authorizes the parish governing authority to permit a per diem to each member of the district in
an amount not to exceed $300 for each day of attendance at commission meetings for up to 12
