Abstract: Modifies the procedure for licensing a registered nurse (RN) and an advanced practice
registered nurse (APRN) by endorsement.
Present law permits the La. State Board of Nursing to issue a license to practice as an RN or an
APRN to an applicant who is licensed as an RN in another state if the applicant satisfies the
requirements for licensure in this state and holds a current license issued from the jurisdiction of his
last employment.
Proposed law modifies present law by eliminating the requirement that an applicant for licensure by
endorsement holds a current license issued from the jurisdiction of his last employment.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
