Abstract: Requires that teacher education program students receive instruction on foundational
numeracy skills.
Present law requires the State Bd. of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) to establish
qualifications and requirements for teacher education programs. Specifies certain elements to be
included in such programs.
Proposed law retains present law.
Proposed law requires that teacher education programs include instruction on foundational numeracy
skills.
Proposed law requires BESE to revise teacher certification requirements to align with proposed law
by Dec. 31, 2023.
