BOARDS/COMMISSIONS:  Prohibits bare-knuckle boxing by the State Boxing and
Wrestling Commission
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 4:81.2, relative to the State Boxing and Wrestling Commission; to provide for
3 definitions; to prohibit bare-knuckle boxing contests and competitions; to provide
4 for penalties; and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 4:81.2 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 
7 ยง81.2.  Bare-knuckle boxing; prohibition; penalties
8	A.  For the purposes of this Chapter, "bare-knuckle boxing" means any
9 boxing match, fighting contest, competition, or combination thereof, between two
10 or more persons, whether professional or amateur, who use their hands or a closed
11 fist to strike another without gloves or without any form of padding on their hands
12 or fists.  The term "bare-knuckle boxing" shall not include, nor shall the provisions
13 of this Section apply to any contest, competition, or exhibition of any of the
14 recognized martial arts including karate, judo, kung fu, tae kwan do, jujitsu,
15 kickboxing, or any substantially similar tradition.
16	B.  Bare-knuckle boxing shall be unauthorized and prohibited by the State
17 Boxing and Wrestling Commission.
18	C.  No person shall conduct, promote, or in any manner participate in any
19 bare-knuckle boxing contest or exhibition.  Any person violating this Section as a

1 participant, promoter, judge, or referee may be subject to penalties as provided in
2 R.S. 4:82 through 82.2.

Abstract:  Prohibits bare-knuckle boxing contests and competitions by the State Boxing and
Wrestling Commission.
Proposed law defines "bare-knuckle boxing" as any boxing match, fighting contest, or
competition between  two or more persons who use their hands or a closed fist to strike
another without gloves or without any form of padding on their hands or fists.
Proposed law  requires the State Boxing and Wrestling Commission to prohibit bare-knuckle
boxing.
Proposed law provides for certain penalties for individuals or groups that are noncompliant
with proposed law.
