Abstract: Provides that the local governing authority designates the head of the fire prevention
bureau of the city of Thibodaux.
Present law provides that the local governing authority may establish a fire prevention bureau, and
the fire prevention bureau may apply for certification by the fire marshal to perform inspections on
behalf of the fire marshal. Present law further provides that the fire prevention bureau must be
headed by a chief of a fire department or a person designated by the chief of the fire department.
Proposed law retains present law but provides that, instead of the chief of the fire department, the
local governing authority shall designate a person to head the fire prevention bureau of the city of
Thibodaux.
