ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: Provides relative to alcohol beverage products for
consumption off restaurant premises

2To enact R.S. 26:73(J) and 272(J), relative to alcoholic beverage permits; to provide relative
3 to Class "R" restaurant permits; to provide relative to alcohol beverage control; to
4 provide relative to the sale of alcoholic beverages of high and low alcoholic content;
5 to authorize holders of Class "R" restaurant permits to sell alcoholic beverages for
6 consumption off the premises; and to provide for related matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. R.S. 26:73(J) and 272(J) are hereby enacted to read as follows:
9 §73. Restaurant "R" permit; application; fees

11 J. Notwithstanding any other provision of law or regulation to the contrary,
12 when not prohibited by municipal or parish ordinance, alcoholic beverages may be
13 sold for consumption off premises when prepared with an appropriate lid or cover
14 on the container.

Abstract: Authorizes Class "R" restaurant permit holders to sell alcoholic beverages for
off-premise consumption if prepared with an appropriate lid or cover on the
container.
Present law provides regulations for holders of Class "R" restaurant permits.
Proposed law retains present law and authorizes the restaurant establishment to sell alcoholic
beverages for consumption off premises.
Proposed law requires that alcoholic beverages authorized for sale for off-premise
consumption be prepared with an appropriate lid or cover on the container.
