MOTOR VEHICLES: Creates the "Utility Lineman" special prestige license plate
1 AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 47:463.225, relative to motor vehicle special prestige license plates; to provide
3 for the establishment of the "Utility Lineman" special prestige license plate; to
4 provide for creation, issuance, design, fees, and rule promulgation applicable to such
5 license plates; and to provide for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1. R.S. 47:463.225 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 ยง463.225. Special prestige license plate; "Utility Lineman"
9 A. The secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections shall
10 establish a special prestige motor vehicle license plate to be known as the "Utility
11 Lineman" plate, provided there is a minimum of one thousand applicants for the
12 plate. The plate shall be restricted to use on passenger cars, pickup trucks,
13 recreational vehicles, motorcycles, and vans.
14 B. The secretary shall work in conjunction with the Utility Lineman
15 Association or any association affiliated with Utility Lineman to select the color and
16 design of the plate, provided it is in compliance with R.S. 47:463(A)(3). The design
17 shall include the words "Utility Lineman".
18 C. The special prestige license plate shall be issued, upon application, to any
19 citizen of Louisiana in the same manner as any other motor vehicle license plate.

1 D. The charge for the special plate shall be the regular motor vehicle license
2 fee charged under the provisions of R.S. 47:463. The department shall collect a
3 handling fee of three dollars and fifty cents for each plate to be retained by the
4 department to offset a portion of administrative costs.
5 E. The secretary shall promulgate and adopt rules and regulations as are
6 necessary to implement the provisions of this Section.
7 Section 2. The Department of Public Safety and Corrections, office of motor
8vehicles, is hereby directed to create the special prestige license plate when the applicable
9statutory provisions are met and its system is updated to accommodate the creation of new
10plates.

and its system is updated to accommodate the creation of new plates.
