MOTOR VEHICLES: Creates the "Utility Lineman" and the "Louisiana Soccer
Association" special prestige license plates

Proposed law requires the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to issue special prestige
license plates to be known as the "Utility Lineman", the "Louisiana Soccer Association", and
the "Louisiana Respiratory Therapist "RT STRONG"" license plates provided there is a
minimum of 1,000 applicants for such plates.
Proposed law requires the secretary work in conjunction with the Utility Lineman
Association or any affiliate of the Utility Lineman to select the design of the plate. Requires
the design include the words "Utility Lineman". Additionally, requires the secretary to work
in conjunction with the president of the Louisiana Soccer Association to select the design of
the plate. Requires the design to include the words "Louisiana Soccer Association".
Proposed law further requires the secretary to work in conjunction with the president of the
Louisiana Society for Respiratory Care to select the color and design of the plate.
Proposed law specifies that these license plates will be issued, upon application, to any
citizen of La. in the same manner as any other motor vehicle license plates.
Proposed law requires that the department collect a $3.50 handling fee for each plate to be
retained by the department to offset a portion of administrative costs.
Proposed law requires the secretary promulgate and adopt rules and regulations to implement
the provisions provided in proposed law.
Directs the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections, office of motor vehicles, to create the
"Utility Lineman", "Louisiana Soccer Association", and the Louisiana Respiratory Therapist
specialty license plates when the applicable statutory provisions are met and its system is
updated to accommodate the creation of new plates.
