HLS 23RS-1433 ORIGINAL 2023 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 643 (Substitute for House Bill No. 122 by Representative Horton) BY REPRESENTATIVE HORTON CHILDREN/NEWBORNS: Provides relative to cytomegalovirus (CMV) testing for newborns 1 AN ACT 2To enact Subpart F of Part VI of Chapter 5-A of Title 40 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes 3 of 1950, to be comprised of R.S. 40:1086.21, relative to point of care testing for 4 newborns; to require testing for the cytomegalovirus (CMV); to provide for 5 reporting; and to provide for related matters. 6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. Subpart F of Part VI of Chapter 5-A of Title 40 of the Louisiana Revised 8Statutes of 1950, comprised of R.S. 40:1086.21, is hereby enacted to read as follows: 9 SUBPART F. CYTOMEGALOVIRUS (CMV) TESTING 10 ยง1086.21. Cytomegalovirus; point of care testing; reporting 11 Every hospital, birthing center, licensed midwife, and certified nurse midwife 12 shall ensure that any delivered newborn is administered point of care testing for 13 cytomegalovirus (CMV). Any positive test report of such point of care testing shall 14 be provided to the Louisiana Department of Health within five days. 15 Section 2.
