HLS 23RS-3482 ORIGINAL 2023 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 131 BY REPRESENTATIVE MCFARLAND AGRICULTURE: Memorializes Congress to codify the terminology of "solar compound" and "wind installation" 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2To memorialize the United States Congress to take such actions as are necessary to codify 3 the terminology of "solar compound" and "wind installation" in lieu of "solar farm" 4 and "wind farm." 5 WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana is a proud agricultural state that values the 6importance of farming and the production of crops; and 7 WHEREAS, the development of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind 8power has become increasingly important in reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and 9protecting our environment; and 10 WHEREAS, the terminology used to describe these renewable energy sources is 11important in accurately conveying their purpose and function; and 12 WHEREAS, the terms "solar farm" and "wind farm" are misleading and inaccurate 13because they do not produce food or other crops; and 14 WHEREAS, the use of these terms can cause confusion and misrepresentation of the 15purpose of these installations; and 16 WHEREAS, Congress has always supported farming and the agricultural industry. 17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Louisiana Legislature does hereby 18memorialize the United States Congress to take such actions as are necessary to codify the 19terminology of "solar compound" and "wind installation" in lieu of "solar farm" and "wind 20farm" to accurately reflect the purpose and function of these renewable energy sources. 21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the Page 1 of 2 HLS 23RS-3482 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 131 1presiding officers of the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Congress of the 2United States of America, the president of the United States, the governor of Louisiana, and 3to each member of the Louisiana congressional delegation.
