HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 140
BY REPRESENTATIVES GLOVER, JENKINS, AND PHELPS
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the Huntington High School girls' track team on winning
the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Class 4A state championship
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend the Huntington High School girls' track team on winning the Louisiana High
3 School Athletic Association 2023 Class 4A state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Huntington High School girls' track team captured the 2023 Class
54A state title by scoring eighty-seven total points during the track and field championship
6meet at Bernie Moore Track on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge;
7and
8 WHEREAS, the Huntington High School girls showed off their astonishing speed
9in multiple track events; Rondisia Williams won the 100 meter dash with a blazing time of
1011.92 seconds, and she placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.78 seconds;
11Demetria Harris won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.47 seconds, and Catina
12Davenport followed her, placing second with a time of 15.00 seconds; additionally, T'La
13Dewitt placed fifth in the 200 meter dash, and Aniyah Jackson placed fifth in the girls 400
14meter run; and
15 WHEREAS, in the relay events, the Huntington High girls continued their display
16of dominance by winning both the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x200 meter relay; the relay
17team of Haliey Evans, T'La Dewitt, Demetria Harris, and Rondisia Williams claimed the
184x100 meter relay with a time of 47.45 seconds; the gold medal winning 4x200 meter relay
19team included Dewitt, Harris, and Williams, with the addition of Aniyah Jackson; and

1 WHEREAS, Huntington High School also claimed the triple jump crown with
2Serenity Palmer's incredible jump measuring 11.05 meters; Miss Palmer also finished second
3in the high jump, and Demetria Harris finished second in the long jump; and
4 WHEREAS, the members of the Huntington High School girls track team are
5Zaniyah Broadway, Catina Davenport, T'La Dewitt, Haliey Evans, Kyndall Graham,
6Gereal'Niyah Guerra, Demetria Harris, Aniyah Jackson, A'Jamea Lyles, Serenity Palmer,
7De'Ajah Riley, Nyla Ware, and Rondisia Williams; these young women, and coaches
8LeRonn Burris and Joan Catanese, are most deserving of the highest recognition for winning
9the first Huntington High School girls' track and field state title in thirty years.
10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
11commend the Huntington High School girls' track team on winning the Louisiana High
12School Athletic Association 2023 Class 4A state championship and does hereby extend
13sincerest wishes that they continue their incredible work and always strive for greatness.
