COMMENDATIONS: Commends Louisiana State University student Cale Locicero on
being named a recipient of a 2022-2023 National Science Foundation Graduate
Research Fellowship
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend Louisiana State University student Cale Locicero on being named a recipient
3 of a 2022-2023 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
4 WHEREAS, the purpose of the National Science Foundation's Graduate Research
5Fellowship Program is to ensure the quality, vitality, and diversity of the scientific and
6engineering workforce of the United States; and
7 WHEREAS, the program provides a five-year fellowship that includes financial
8support and an annual stipend of $37,000 to students who demonstrate the greatest potential
9to contribute to the scientific competitiveness of the United States; and
10 WHEREAS, Cale Locicero is a Roger H. Ogden Honors College student at Louisiana
11State University who is studying chemistry; he plans to pursue a doctoral degree in organic
12chemistry and conduct research on new organic reaction development for application in the
13fields of biomedical sciences and drug discovery; and
14 WHEREAS, Mr. Locicero has been recognized for his proficiency in scientific
15pursuits on numerous occasions; he was named a Louis Stokes Louisiana Alliance for
16Minority Participation Scholar, a Barry Goldwater Scholar, and an Astronaut Scholar by the
17Astronaut Scholarship Foundation; he was also included in the American Chemical Society's
18Scholars Program; and

1 WHEREAS, Cale Locicero is most deserving of the highest recognition for his
2incredible talent and for being named a recipient of a 2022-2023 National Science
3Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
5commend Louisiana State University student Cale Locicero on being named a recipient of
6a 2022-2023 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and does hereby
7extend sincerest wishes that he continues to prosper in all of his academic and professional
8endeavors.
