ENROLLED 2023 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 28 BY REPRESENTATIVE STAGNI A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend Louisiana State University student Cale Locicero on being named a recipient of a 2022-2023 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. WHEREAS, the purpose of the National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship Program is to ensure the quality, vitality, and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States; and WHEREAS, the program provides a five-year fellowship that includes financial support and an annual stipend of $37,000 to students who demonstrate the greatest potential to contribute to the scientific competitiveness of the United States; and WHEREAS, Cale Locicero is a Roger H. Ogden Honors College student at Louisiana State University who is studying chemistry; he plans to pursue a doctoral degree in organic chemistry and conduct research on new organic reaction development for application in the fields of biomedical sciences and drug discovery; and WHEREAS, Mr. Locicero has been recognized for his proficiency in scientific pursuits on numerous occasions; he was named a Louis Stokes Louisiana Alliance for Minority Participation Scholar, a Barry Goldwater Scholar, and an Astronaut Scholar by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation; he was also included in the American Chemical Society's Scholars Program; and WHEREAS, Cale Locicero is most deserving of the highest recognition for his incredible talent and for being named a recipient of a 2022-2023 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. Page 1 of 2 HCR NO. 28 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Louisiana State University student Cale Locicero on being named a recipient of a 2022-2023 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that he continues to prosper in all of his academic and professional endeavors.
