COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Church Point High School boys' powerlifting team
on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division III state
championship
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend the Church Point High School boys' powerlifting team on winning the
3 Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023 Division III state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the Church Point High School Bears powerlifting team captured the
52023 Division III state title and two individual state titles during the Louisiana High School
6Athletic Association powerlifting state meet held at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana,
7on March 25, 2023; and
8 WHEREAS, the victory gives the Bears powerlifting program its ninth state
9championship under Head Coach Eddie Bergeron and marks its first title since 2019; and
10 WHEREAS, Church Point's individual state champions were Damarion Guy, in the
11220-pound weight class, and Wyatt Daigle, in the 242-pound weight class; the Bears also
12had one lifter finish in second-place and three lifters finished in third-place; and
13 WHEREAS, all of the members of the Church Point boys' powerlifting team are most
14deserving of the highest recognition for their incredible accomplishments throughout the
152023 season.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
17Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Church Point High School boys'
18powerlifting team on winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2023
19Division III state championship and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that the team
20continue its excellent work and always strive for greatness.
