SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes May 10, 2023, as Arc Appreciation Day at
the state capitol and commends the twenty-two affiliated local chapters of The Arc
of Louisiana for their dedication to individuals with disabilities and their families
over the last sixty-nine years

2To recognize Wednesday, May 10, 2023, as Arc Appreciation Day at the state capitol and
3 to commend the twenty-two affiliated local chapters of The Arc of Louisiana for
4 their dedication to individuals with disabilities and their families over the last sixty-
5 nine years.
6 WHEREAS, The Arc of Louisiana is the oldest and largest grassroots advocacy
7organization in Louisiana with more than ten thousand members affiliated through twenty-
8two local chapters across the state; and
9 WHEREAS, The Arc of Louisiana is devoted to promoting, improving, and
10providing support and services for people with disabilities and their families, and has served
11the individuals with the Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities, the Office of
12Aging and Adult Services, Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, and Early Steps for nearly
13seventy years; and
14 WHEREAS, The Arc of Louisiana's local chapters provide a variety of services
15across the state, including early intervention, inclusive rec, personal care assistance, day
16habilitation, supported employment, community homes, and supervised independent living;
17and
18 WHEREAS, The Arc of Louisiana and its local chapters are most deserving of the
19highest recognition for their incredible support of intellectually and developmentally
20disabled Louisianians and their families.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize Wednesday, May 10, 2023, as Arc
3Appreciation Day at the state capitol and commends the twenty-two affiliated local chapters
4of The Arc of Louisiana for their dedication to individuals with disabilities and their families
5over the last sixty-nine years and does hereby extend sincerest wishes that The Arc of
6Louisiana and its local chapters continue to receive the necessary support to sustain their
7inspiring mission of service.
